Welcome to Virginia where you can find beautiful arrays of hydrangea, Geraniums, and boxwood hedge gardens all in one place. Virginia has a historic past that is delicately preserved through luscious and intricate flowers and gardens. In March of 1918, Virginia adopted the Cornus florida, better known as the American Dogwood to foster a feeling of pride in our state and to simulate an interest in the history and traditions of the Commonwealth. Virginians have maintained these traditions and engrossed themselves a little more each year in the history as it enriches each Spring. We celebrate this preservation through an horticultural festival well known as Garden Week. Each April more than 250 gardens, homes, and historical landmarks are displayed during Garden Week, altogether uniquely providing another sliver to the rich history and beauty of the state of Virginia. This year “America’s Largest Open House” and 80th celebration will begin the 20th day of April 2013 and conclude the 27th day of April 2013.
